Televised Ghosthuntress Bellydances Between Takes; Debuts At Renaissance Faire

Keri-Bo Bates of Brick, is set to make her on-stage debut at the Lakewood Renaissance Faire on September 20-21st 2008. Ms. Bates found the Daughters of Sophia bellydance troupe while taking lessons at Tribal Dance Arts under the instruction of Julie Nuzzo. The Daughters of Sophia also features the talents of Julie Nuzzo (Brick), Marissa Rojo (Ocean Grove), Rose Curry (Bayville), Chelsea Rappel (Lakewood), and Julia Hiroko Howe (Forked River).

About Keri-Bo Bates:
Ms. Bates resides in Brick, NJ and volunteers for the Silverton First Aid Squad. She performs with the Daughters of Sophia bellydance troupe as “Ehawee”, meaning laughing maiden in Sioux. Bates is of native American descent; maternally part Cree, and Shinnecock on her paternal side. An active member of the Garden State Ghost Hunters Society (GSGHS), she was featured on the Travel Channel’s Eastern State Penitentiary special with other members of the GSGHS in 2007. In 2008, she earned the role of Senior Ghosthunter in a new series co-produced by the GSGHS and Evil Kat Productions.

About Tribal Dance Arts:
Tribal Dance Arts is an American tribal fusion bellydance school based in Brick, NJ. Founded in 2004 by Julie “Ashtar” Nuzzo, the school’s unique style, fusing steps from ballet, jazz, flamenco, Afro-Cuban dance, medieval folk, bhangra, and Egyptian cabaret, has become the trademark of their resident “Daughters of Sophia” tribal dance troupe. The Daughters of Sophia perform in annual shows with Alborada: Spanish Dance Theatre in The Sephardic Connection and The Feast of Sarah.

The Uprising
Friday, 05 September 2008

This week we had over 15 actors from Manhattan Theater Source visiting to film "The Uprising", an alien-scifi thriller by Pandora Machine.  With the unusually high temperatures for the season, it was super steamy in the sets but Laura Schlachtmeyer's makeup skills held up to the elements!  Director Andrew Bellware was making good time with the schedule and the actors & actresses were top notch!  If only all projects went this smoothly~

Here are some shots of the pros in action:

There's a new article up on io9.com about Venus Rises' prequel interspace episode "Ikarus"!  Show us some love in the comments Cool

"But it's also edgy and freaktastic, especially the way the male characters constantly sexually harrass Aeriana, the deaf pilot who's also a hacker. And I'm looking forward to learning more about this hard-edged dystopian post-Earth solar system, especially after the intriguing glimpses in the opening credits. "
