Battle of Monmouth - Revolutionary War Reenactment
Wednesday, 25 June 2008

John and Julie Nuzzo were nice enough to lend me and Jay some cool in-period costumes to participate in the Battle of Monmouth reenactment this year! Julie ("Jules") and John were looking rather dapper with their muskets ready, all lined up in Heards Brigade (NJ militia).  Little did me and Jay know that our role in this whole battle were to be the dreaded idle villagers.. the bane of anyone who's every played Age of Empires.  I'd have wiped my laptop out to play a game in the middle of camp but nothing 'out of period' was even allowed on the premesis!

ta-da! Idle villager at a war reenactment.  what.. that's in period no?

This villager is still chilling at the spawning point. Quick! Give him a task!

Yep that's us. The pink team. That's what happens when you're the last to join the LAN game.

Daughters of Sophia @ The Robert Treat Hotel
Tuesday, 17 June 2008

This past weekend we got the chance to perform during a Creole social event in Newark, NJ. The grand ballroom at the Robert Treat Hotel was beautiful and spacious! Which would sort of explain the UFOs hovering on the ceiling.  (it really did look like the mothership had landed)

Me and my lovely posse. I'm the one doing the Lady of Guadeloupe impression.

My cousin Jason became the first member of our generation to tie the knot! He married his college sweetheart Lisa, how romantic!

Alborada: The Feast of Sarah @ The George Street Playhouse
Tuesday, 03 June 2008

This past weekend I got to perform bellydance in a live theater for the first time!  Ashtar's (Julie Nuzzo)  choreography really shined in "Marco Polo", "Ketri Ketri", and "The Journey".  Here are some pictures of me and my troupe-mates from The Daughters of Sophia tribal dance troupe.

m-state water experiments
Monday, 21 April 2008

Our first batch of m-state water was nothing to write home about.. it looked just like normal water. Expect that over a period of a few hours, it would turn a golden hue and get cloudier.  Left to sit a little longer, an oily film would appear over the water.. even in water stored in a large apothecary jar.  After about 2 hours.. here's what the water looked like:

water1

water2

From left to right: tap water, well water, m-state water from a vortex trap, m-state water boiled for 25 minutes

Observations:

  •  m-state water when boiled gets cloudier, rustier, oilier, and red droplets resembling "blood" accumulate towards the top of the glass
  • m-state water boiled has a strong odor like a cross between petrol and standing swamp water.  It smells organic.
  • m-state water boiled is OPAQUE!
  • m-state water unboiled gets gradually golden in hue with or without sunlight exposure.
  • m-state water freshly extracted using a vortex trap is clear.
  • well water and tap water do not change color.
  • cloudiness in the boiled and unboiled m-state water do not settle.
  • unboiled m-state water will start to get oilier after 2-4 hours.

water3

What the hell is this?!

water4

..another view of the "blood" without the flash on.

water5

top view of accumulated "blood"... or is it red rain?

water7

Opacity test.  In the unboiled m-state water, text is clearly visible underneith.  The boiled m-state water is -very- cloudy!

My wild and crazy movie plot hypothesis:

The "blood" found in m-state water is the same organism behind "red rain".  It appears as mysteriously as it disappears.. a sentience hiding somewhere in the infinite quantum space between water molecules.

 Down to earth hypothesis:

m-state water develops bubbles after first extraction meaning.. there's a chemical reaction going on.  Either hydrogen or oxygen is being released from the water molecule and the remainder is binding to form the "oil".  This oil when concentrated resembles red droplets of blood. Suspended in water, the oily particles cloud the water.

Lab test results:

coming soon!

UPDATE:  4/20/08 11:30pm

water8

unboiled m-state is still bubbling.. control glasses of tap water and well water have no bubbles.

water10

boiled m-state glass is more transparent.  Flecks of precipitate have settled on the bottom.

top of the boiled m-state glass still oily with red stuff floating in the slick.

Vortex Trap
Monday, 21 April 2008

Jason Birdsall   assisted in constructing a vortex tube apparatus to extract m-state particles from water.  We successfully completed our first Vortex Trap following the design from subtleenergies.com

Variations from their design:

  • we used extra strong long ceramic magnets from A.C.Moore crafts instead of magnetic tape. These magnets were so strong, they'd pull on each other from opposite ends of the PVC pipe even as they were being positioned.
  • used 1/4" tubing instead of 1/8" tubing.
  • used a wood dowel instead of a plastic rod.

Here's a closeup of the 1" wood dowel in the nozzle.  Try as we might, we couldn't find a plastic rod so the wood dowel became the stand-in.

It works like a charm! At first we were skeptical but after experimenting with the mystery water, it had properties consistent with first-hand accounts from other m-state water collectors.
